Leadership and Operational Support Act as Deputy to the Operational Superintendent when required. Lead and manage daily clinical workload, ensuring effective staff allocation and workflow. Coordinate with administration for appointment bookings to maximise room utilisation. Liaise with Clinical Scientists to ensure timely processing and review of imaging data. Clinical Expertise and Imaging Procedures Perform all clinical Nuclear Medicine procedures, including PET-CT, SPECT, SPECT-CT, DXA, and ECG monitoring. Operate imaging equipment and associated IT systems such as RIS and PACS. Conduct all diagnostic scans with strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Acquire, analyse, and process diagnostic and non-imaging investigations for accurate clinical diagnosis. Assess image quality and biodistribution, identifying the need for further intervention when necessary. Gain IV access and perform cannulation for radiopharmaceutical administration and blood sampling. Radiopharmacy and Laboratory Duties Receive, unpack, assay, and document radiopharmaceuticals in line with legislation. Prepare, dispense, and administer diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals aseptically and accurately. Perform and analyse in-vitro procedures and prepare laboratory results for clinical reporting. Carry out daily radiopharmacy QC checks on dose calibrators. Patient Care and Management Prepare and explain procedures clearly to patients, ensuring informed consent is obtained. Adapt procedures in consultation with clinicians to meet patient-specific needs. Deliver compassionate care in compliance with Trust and departmental policies. Training, Supervision, and Development Lead training and development for students, trainees, and new staff. Maintain departmental training records. Participate in departmental audits, protocol development, and research activities. Engage in CPD, seminars, and postgraduate training to maintain professional competency. Health, Safety, and Radiation Protection Apply universal precautions in handling radioactive and hazardous materials. Respond effectively to spills or incidents involving radioactive or infectious waste. Perform daily radiation monitoring and maintain accurate records. Ensure all clinical activities comply with current radiation safety legislation and departmental guidelines. Manual Handling Use patient handling equipment and immobilisation aids safely and appropriately. Assist patients with safe transfers to and from imaging equipment. Quality Assurance and Equipment Maintenance Conduct routine QA tests on imaging and radiopharmacy equipment. Report and troubleshoot equipment issues in coordination with the supervisor and relevant teams. Administrative and Clerical Support Assist with scheduling, booking, and handling patient enquiries to support service efficiency. Produce accurate clinical and technical documentation to support diagnosis and reproducibility. Organise clinical worklists and support departmental operations in the absence of senior staff. Use patient information systems (e.g., CRIS) to document and monitor workflow accurately. Governance and Compliance Ensure full compliance with all SOPs, protocols, legislation, and governance requirements. Investigate and report incidents, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Recommend service improvements and workflow changes to support best practice and resource efficiency.
