Consultant Psychiatrist
Full time permanent
Cheadle
£170,000 per annum
We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team Adult Acute Ward within a private mental health hospital in Cheadle, Stockport which offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of the service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. They take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
• Lead clinical care for patients, including psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, ward rounds, and Responsible Clinician duties under the Mental Health Act.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, recovery-focused care in a therapeutic environment.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with referring Trusts, community teams, families, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to service development through clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in the on-call rota and commit to continuous professional development, including meeting GMC Revalidation requirements.
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
The successful candidate will be fully registered with the GMC and expected to provide evidence of their registration when required. You should have significant experience working within multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate strong leadership in coordinating care, discharge planning, and liaising with commissioners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building trust with patients and colleagues. You must be confident working autonomously, have strong problem-solving abilities, and be able to apply evidence-based practice in a practical, patient-centred manner. Participation in a non-residential, second on-call rota is also required.
This is a permanent full time role and offers a competitive salary of £170,000 per annum, plus
• Free on-site parking
• Supplemented meals
• 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
• Birthday Holiday - Your Birthday as an extra days annual leave
• Enhanced maternity pay
• Contributory pension scheme
• Flexible benefits including reduced rates and access to new schemes including gym membership, IT technology (laptops / tablets / smartphones) and Healthcare Cash Plan (Simply Health Scheme)
• Access to development opportunities

• Leadership & management development
• Long service award
