We are recruiting for a Senior Operative to join the Green Spaces service working across Calderdale.
The Green Spaces and Street Scene Service is responsible for maintaining the beautiful borough of Calderdale. This includes looking after our parks and open spaces, play areas, highways, countryside & woodlands, and ensuring that the streets are kept clear of litter, and public litter bins are emptied.
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking individual to join our service to supervise a team of operatives that are responsible for keeping Calderdale green and maintained to a high standard. Team members carry out tasks such as grass cutting, planting and maintaining formal and informal flower and shrub beds including carrying out greenhouse horticultural tasks, teams also carry out hedge trimming, strimming, litter picking and emptying bins. You will support the Team Leader and be expected to manage the workload of your team ensuring safe and efficient practices are undertaken in line with service requirements.
You will provide on-site guidance as necessary to ensure the completion of tasks. You should have strong organisational and interpersonal skills and be competent in working in an outdoor environment carrying out a range of grounds maintenance tasks using different tools and equipment.
This is a Calderdale wide role and so it is essential that you have a flexible approach to your work. You will be expected to work outside of core hours including weekends and on standby if required for which you will receive enhanced pay.
If you have experience in this type of work, are flexible and have knowledge of safe working practices then we would welcome your application. A full UK driving licence is essential (manual car) and you must have held a Category B Licence for at least 2 years to drive a work vehicle.
