Due to maternity leave NBT have a 12 month, locum position for a Consultant Radiologist in Body/Abdominopelvic radiology.
The successful post holder will be part of an enthusiastic and cohesive General Body radiology team. As part of this team, theywill be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, and in liaison with consultant colleagues, continuity of care when the postholder is absent.

There are several Consultant led General Body multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDTs) shared between the team on a rotational basis and held in close collaborative relationships with a range of medical and surgical departments, including GI surgical, gastroenterology, gynaecology, urology and plastic surgery departments. The successful applicant appointee will provide radiology support to the regional skin cancer MDT, as well as having the opportunity to contribute to further abdominopelvic MDTs aligned to their sub-speciality
The North Bristol NHS Trust Imaging Department provides a full imaging service to cover the Hospital’s role as a major acute Trust, as well as a tertiary and quaternary centre for multiple medical and surgical regional specialist services. Southmead Hospital is also a Level 1 Major Trauma Centre. Emergency imaging is provided by SpRs supported by general, interventional, neuroradiology and neuro-interventional radiology consultants each with their own 24/7 rota. From 0000-0800 emergency scans are outsourced to a external reporting company. All Consultant Radiologists have the ability to undertake reporting from home if desired.
The post holder(s) will have a 10programmed activities (PA)job plan, 8.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).There is the potential to work less than full-time, upon discussion.The job plan details, and exact timetable will be discussed and agreed between the successful candidate(s) and Clinical Lead to reflect the sub-specialty interest(s), including relevant multi-disciplinary meetings and face-face patient facing lists, as well as departmental general radiology activities across the North Bristol Trust sites, and joining the 1:18 general radiology on-call rota, allocated 1.0 DCC. In addition, there is also the opportunity for home reporting, as well as an extra 2 programmed activities which may be DCC or SPA activities, the latter to support the wide variety of consultant led non-clinical activities to constructively support our department.
Provision of a general ultrasound list with support for radiographers and trainees is part of this post. GI and other relevant intervention could be incorporated into job plans but is not an essential requirement.
