For decades, the College of Food at University College Birmingham has been renowned worldwide for its culinary education, supporting, through training and education, the world of culinary arts, food service, hotel, and hospitality management. It has a very long and proud tradition within the heart of the great city of Birmingham. This has included its fine dining restaurant, operated by students for use by the public, which many people have experienced over many generations.

We are now entering an exciting phase of growth and looking to further the commercial opportunities within our campuses and around the city.

Therefore, we are looking for a detail-oriented and strategic Procurement Manager to oversee sourcing and purchasing for our diverse catering operations, including restaurants, lecture kitchens, campus catering, and conference services. Although the role is primarily focused on these departments, there will be further scope to oversee other procurement opportunities throughout the University.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring the cost-effective and timely procurement of quality goods and services that align with the university’s sustainability, compliance, and service delivery standards.

Key responsibilities:
• Review and manage the current system (Procure Wizard), to ensure it operates efficiently and correctly for all catering departments.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies supporting the university’s commercial catering operations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support sourcing and negotiate contracts with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance, ensure pricing is correct and contracts are being adhered to.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives while protecting quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing.
• Maintain procurement systems and generate regular reports on spending, KPIs, and performance.
So if you have previous experience in procurement and are looking for a new and exciting challenge, apply now!!
