Assistant Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Location: Effingham, Surrey (Close to Guildford)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: ASAP

Are you ready to take the next step in your career and lead change for students with special educational needs?

We are seeking a proactive and driven Assistant SENCO to join our forward-thinking special school in Effingham, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual with experience supporting young people with Autism to step into a leadership role and help shape the future of our students' educational journeys.

What You'll Be Doing

This role is about more than just administration-it's about making a tangible impact on the lives of our students. You'll work directly with our SENCO to:

  • Lead and manage the daily SEN provision across the school.

  • Mentor and advise teachers on effective strategies for students with Autism and other communication difficulties.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our interventions, using data to inform decision-making.

  • Build strong partnerships with parents and external agencies to ensure our support is comprehensive and holistic.

  • Drive professional development for staff, helping to foster a school-wide culture of excellence in SEN provision.

This is a chance to use your expertise to not only support students but to also guide and empower your colleagues.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic practitioner with a deep understanding of the unique needs of students with Autism. We are seeking someone who is passionate, resilient, and ready to take on a leadership challenge.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in a SENCO or similar special educational needs role is highly preferred.

  • A minimum of GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent) is essential.

  • A teaching qualification is a plus, as it is required to achieve the National Award in SEND Coordination. We will support you in gaining this qualification if needed.

Why Join Us?

This isn't just a job; it's a career-defining opportunity. You'll be part of a supportive and innovative team dedicated to transforming lives. We offer a competitive salary, excellent opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to truly make your mark in a leadership position.
