Demonstrate clinical expertise in assessment, treatment and management of speech, language and communication difficulties in preschool and school aged clients in Guernsey and Alderney. Demonstrate clinical knowledge in assessment, treatment and management of eating and drinking difficulties from birth to 16. Provide appropriate intervention and evaluate outcomes. Refer to management and senior therapists during the course of individual case management, to access knowledge or advice as appropriate. Plan, run and evaluate client/parent groups in accordance with clinical need. Work in partnership with parents/carers, other professionals and voluntary agencies to contribute to and participate in an integrated inter-agency/multidisciplinary approach. Write reports reflecting knowledge of speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for preschool/school age clients, in accordance with departmental standards and distribute accordingly. Demonstrate negotiation skills with regard to case management of complex cases. Attend annual reviews, parents evenings, case conferences and other client related meetings. Provide advice to others regarding the management and care of clients with speech, language and communication needs and eating and drinking difficulties. Develop the ability to demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures. Develop ideas of innovative practice in working to promote and develop childrens communication skills. Assume delegated tasks as requested by line manager, including leading working groups within set parameters and attending multi-agency meetings relating to the service. To be involved in the development of team objectives or projects, in liaison with peers. To identify individual training needs allied to departmental objectives. Adhere to and implement service and team plans and policies. Participate in the development, maintenance and review of standards for the speech and language therapy service to this client group. Maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT professional standards, States of Guernsey and departmental policies. Provide accurate statistical information as required. Contribute to clinical governance/audit projects and collect and provide research data as required. To be accountable for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate. Develop skills to monitor and evaluate own service delivery. Contribute to clinical teams, both multi-disciplinary and uni-disciplinary, by discussing own and others input around clients needs, ensuring a well-co-ordinated care plan. Develop skills for close working with education, health and social care colleagues as well as other professional groups, third sector, clients, carers and families. Communicate information from assessment to clients, carers, families, members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professionals, with support as necessary. Work closely with SLTA including modelling and training, providing programmes and monitoring progress. Demonstrate negotiation skills in the management of conflict across a range of situations. Deal with initial complaints sensitively, informing line manager and avoiding escalation where possible. Work with clients and interpreters using culturally appropriate materials and approaches. Develop skills in curriculum planning and delivery with education staff, demonstrating knowledge about curriculum differentiation for preschool/school aged clients. Participate in the clinical training of Speech and Language therapy students if required, with the support of Senior Speech and Language Therapist. Participate in the development and delivery of training to others, with support where required. 33. Identify personal/professional development evidenced by Personal Development Plan developed within the PIP framework whilst maintaining a CPD log in line with RCSLT guidelines. To maintain up to date HCPC and RCSLT registration and adhere to RCSLT professional and Clinical Guidelines. Keep up to date with new techniques and developments for the promotion and maintenance of good practice in preschool/mainstream/special needs. Attend relevant course, meetings and clinical excellence networks and advanced training for clinical area of specialism which may include occasional travel off island. Take responsibility for specific areas of expertise (as required by line manager), maintaining a high level or clinical competence, an awareness of best practise in these areas and providing advice, training and support to other Speech and Language Therapists and professionals. Manage and prioritise defined workload / case work. Develop skills to use and maintain hi and low-tech AAC equipment where required
