St Mary's Church of England Primary School, Yate currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to join the team as a SEN Teaching Partner, supporting a year 5 child with Cognitive & Learning needs, helping the child access the curriculum . We are looking to recruit a part time SEN teaching partner for 13.33 hours per week, 9.30am - 12.10pm Monday-Friday, Term Time Only.
Job overview
You’ll be responsible for supporting the child 1:1 in a classroom setting. We are looking for an empathetic, caring non-judgemental individual who has a commitment to inclusive practice and promoting the social and emotional well being of the year 5 pupil. You should have the ability to work collaboratively with the year 5/6 team and other Teaching Partners to plan and deliver work supporting the child to access individual learning in a whole class setting.
Job requirements
A minimum of 3 GCSEs at C/5 grade or above, including English and Maths
Teaching Assistant qualification desirable
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in tandem with teaching staff
Ability to be empathetic and understanding to the needs of children
Existing knowledge/experience or a desire and aptitude to learn about supporting SEND children in a mainstream school setting
Ability to create a clam and nurturing environment for the child
Ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of the individual child
Ability to remain calm under pressure and show resilience and patience.
To be creative and flexible in their approach in order to be able to motivate children.
