Job description:
AK Teaching are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with Team Teach training to join our dedicated partner schools. This role involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and/or special educational needs (SEN), helping them to access learning in a safe and inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate will be working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to support students on a 1:1 or small group basis, particularly those who may require behavioural support or emotional regulation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs
- Implement strategies learned through Team Teach training to de-escalate behaviour
- Assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback
- Support students during break times and transitions
Requirements:
- Team Teach certificate (in-date) - essential
- Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEN
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure
- A valid DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
Desirable:
- Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Previous experience in a PRU, SEN school, or mainstream setting with high behaviour needs
