Job description:
AK Teaching are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Education Healthcare Assistant to join our partner schools. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with complex medical needs and additional learning requirements in a nurturing school environment.
Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external health professionals, you will provide vital support to ensure students' medical and educational needs are met, enabling them to access the full curriculum safely and effectively.
Main Duties:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with medical needs (e.g. , epilepsy, diabetes, PEG feeding, mobility issues, etc.)
- Administer medication and carry out medical procedures as per individual care plans (training will be provided)
- Support learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
- Monitor pupils' health and well-being throughout the day, reporting any concerns
- Maintain accurate records of care provided
- Collaborate with families and external health professionals
- Promote independence, inclusion, and positive behaviour
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care or healthcare setting
- Basic understanding of child development and safeguarding
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with sensitive situations professionally
- Willingness to undertake relevant medical training (e.g. , first aid, administering medication)
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or equivalent
- Experience supporting children with complex medical or special educational needs (SEN)
