Summary
Less than full-time 15 hours per week.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced person.
You will be working to lead on the delivery of dental care to Special care patients including provision of treatment under sedation and general anaesthesia. You will provide clinical leadership in Special Care Dentistry including the development of relevant protocols and the training and mentoring of staff.
You will be able to demonstrate clinical leadership. Candidates will have drive and enthusiasm for service development and improvement to include teaching, supervision and line management. They will independently provide dental care under sedation in the community setting, participate in the theatre lists at local hospitals for the provision of treatment under GA and they will have a commitment to provide domiciliary care.
You will be joining Dental Services during an exciting time as the Community Dental Services across Thames Valley are currently working closely together to move towards an Integrated Dental Care Service to provide improved patient care for vulnerable groups across the Thames Valley.
Candidates will be expected to hold Bachelor in Dental Surgery or equivalent
Applicants must be on the appropriate NHS Performers List and be on the GDC Specialist list for Special Care Dentistry and full GDC.
The successful applicant must possess a valid and current driver's license.
The Dental Specialist will be a staff member of Buckinghamshire Priority Dental Service (BPDS), part of the Central and North West London (CNWL) Dental Service. BPDS provides dental care to priority groups using multiple modalities including inhalation, intravenous, intranasal and oral sedation, treatment under general anaesthetic, domiciliary care, provision of screening and epidemiology and oral health care to those in local secure settings.
The post holder will be expected to provide oral health care to priority groups that may include people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health illnesses and the medically compromised. The post holder will be proficient in diagnosis, treatment plans, consent and treatment as appropriate for patients referred to the service. The post holder will be expected to lead on the provision of care, training and supervision, travelling throughout Thames Valley when required. The post holder may also assist in the planning and clinical leadership of BPDS.
