Are you an experienced Band 5 Staff Nurse who would like to join Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and make a difference to patient care every day?

A very exciting opportunity to join a busy, fast paced environment on the Theatre Admissions Unit in the Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust at the Royal Site.

The Theatre Admissions Unit takes the majority of patients being admitted for surgery and procedures. We admit them peri-operatively and post-operatively recover and discharge them if they are day case patients.

We cover a range of specialities, including but not limited too; Urology, Colorectal, Breast, Ophthalmology, Interventional Radiology, and General Surgery.

For this role you will preferably have a strong surgical background, demonstrate excellent communication skills, you must display a positive and professional manner, be open to change and have the drive and commitment to aim to get it right for every patient every time.

The postholder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.

Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse.

Following successful completion of foundation gateway will be required to take charge of ward/department for a span of duty.

The postholder will always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.

• Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care.
• Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care.
• Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines.
• Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
• Providing information and support to patients/carers and ensuring all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patients’ condition.
• Assist in the safe checking and administration of drugs.
• To develop the clinical knowledge and skills to care for patients pre and post operatively.
