Your new company
My client is a global biopharmaceutical company with a goal of contributing to healthcare innovation and environmental sustainability. They are focused on improving people's quality of life, specialising in Oncology, neurology, rare diseases, ophthalmology and immunology. There is an opportunity for a Pharmacovigilance Data Acquisition Lead to join their Patient Safety Operations team on an initial 12-month contract.

Your new role
As a highly motivated individual, you will play a critical role understanding the pharmacovigilance (PV) data-related requirements needed to achieve scientific/patient insights and to meet regulatory requirements.

Collaborating with a variety of suppliers including Affiliates, Pharma, Diagnostics, Group functions and partner companies to build or access the safety data/information sources that are required and influence the upstream data supply chain.


You will be responsible for Data Acquisition activities such as provision of data acquisition expertise, acting as a consultant to ensure PV requirements are met, and the oversight of data flow, forecasting and adherence to standards.You will build relationships with those both upstream and downstream of the data supply chain, understanding the organisations' safety data needs and communicating these to the suppliers and vice versa.In partnership with internal stakeholders and in the context of an evolving data strategy/sources, you will play a key role in designing new KPIs/performance & oversight measures, new operating frameworks and Quality Assurance processes and collaborate across the organisation to implement process or technology changes.

As an empowered member of the Data Acquisition group and adopting agile ways of working, you will partner closely with internal teams to scope new data sources and implement innovative methods to collect data (ICSR and other data sources).

In support of the evolution of the Safety data acquisition strategies, you will design, develop and lead projects.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven Pharmaceutical Industry experience in the Pharmacovigilance sector including PV processes, PV databases, PV regulations and legislations.
  • Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation, without direct authority.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, builds strong sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to engage with new stakeholders effectively and with a high degree of comfort and confidence
  • Effective leadership, management and communication skills, with the ability to input and deliver on strategy
  • Ability to work in global or matrix teams and to work across geographic areas, business settings and cultures, including in a virtual environment.
  • Good conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Creative problem solving in a complex, process-focused environment.
  • Proven track record of effective decision-making; makes good business decisions and exercises sound judgement
