Our client Scottish Power Renewables are seeking a GIS Specialist for a role initially until the end of next year, based in either London or Glasgow.

Main Purpose of the Job

The primary remit of the GIS Service is to provide the EA TWO project team with GIS support. The service will involve providing tailor-made GIS tools, mapping services, managing web applications, undertaking geospatial analysis and the translation of CAD information, in addition to advising on the appropriate use of geospatial data to various stakeholders.
The main purpose of this job involves several key responsibilities:

Creating interface drawings and visualisations based on instructions from the Engineering Manager, informed by a detailed understanding of issues arising at the interfaces of major packages on offshore wind farms, such as Foundations, Cables, and WTGs.

Translating and manipulating various datasets (both offshore and onshore), executing complex queries, and maintaining and updating GIS databases.

Providing GIS drafting and cartographic services as required by the offshore business.

Designing and developing efficient programming solutions to enhance existing GIS systems, including documentation, preparing test cases, and conducting unit integrations to ensure modified systems perform correctly.

Conducting complex GIS analyses and data processing services to meet desired quality, cost, and traceability standards.

Utilising GIS and/or CAD for geospatial data management and providing high-quality drafting and cartographic services to support all areas of the business.

Developing and implementing methodologies for advanced geospatial data analysis.

Developing tools for a wide technical and non-technical user base to enhance productivity and capability.

Maintaining software, tools, and systems to ensure robustness and usability.

Creating and maintaining geospatial data and metadata.

Receiving, reviewing, and storing geospatial data provided by consultants.

Uploading data to statutory body websites.

Working with internal and external users to support planned or unplanned data requests.

Consulting with engineers to understand their requirements and providing detailed work to meet strict deadlines.

Contributing to the development of specialist knowledge and practices within the business.

Providing documentation and training in the use of custom tools to end users to ensure high standards of use.

Key Tasks

Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst

Development of GIS web enterprise applications

Spatial/survey data management (offshore and onshore)

Spatial/survey data analysis (offshore and onshore)

Raster data handling

Vector data handling.

Manual GIS data creation

Use Model Builder to automate geospatial analysis

Implementation of metadata standards.


Key Criteria

Essential

Experience working in an offshore wind farm project environment.

Advanced skills with GIS (ESRI) in the context of geospatial data processing, analysis, data management and presentation.

Translating data from CAD to GIS format.
o
Good digital cartographic and map production skills.
o
Ability to work in a team and a client office environment.
o
Good written, presentational, and customer-facing skills regarding GIS and Engineering
