GP Training Programme Director – Cornwall 2 sessions, fixed term contract until October 2026
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent 2 session GP Training Programme Director role to support GP training in Cornwall.
The role has a requirement to work mainly Wednesdays as this is the scheduled day for our Drs in Training (DiTs) half day release sessions.
The role of Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes and patient safety for GP trainees. This role is continuously evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
You will be based within the Cornwall GP training programme and will involve working mainly at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to deliver education to our GP trainees, there may also be some requirement to support other GP training programmes across the county and South West.
The successful applicant will work with other local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and be responsible for facilitating the provision of education for General Practice trainees in the Cornwall GP training programme as well as working with the GP educational supervisors and local Primary Care Networks to support GP training across the geographical footprint of the patch.
The successful applicant will work with other local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training, including managing available funds and resources.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and be responsible for facilitating the provision of education for General Practice trainees in the Cornwall GP training programme as well as working with the GP educational supervisors and local Primary Care Networks to support GP training across the geographical footprint of the patch.
This role will also include important work with our Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision and education for trainees.
The role may involve delivery and oversight of projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice based educators, including induction, one-to-one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality Diversity and inclusion within our training programme and being an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
