Ruminant Sales Specialist (Dairy/Beef/Sheep)
Ruminant Sales Specialist (Dairy/Beef/Sheep) – West Midlands (Shropshire / Oswestry) - Competitive Salary + Bonus + Vehicle
The Job:
We are seeking an ambitious and technically minded Ruminant Sales Specialist to develop and grow a sales patch across [insert region: e.g., North & West England / Wales Borders]. You will work directly with dairy, beef, and sheep farmers, providing practical rationing advice, forage sampling, and on-farm diagnostics to support yield, daily liveweight gain, and feed efficiency.
This role requires someone who can combine technical expertise with commercial drive — building trusted farmer relationships, converting value into sales, and ensuring consistent growth in margin and volume.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing a territory plan with farm visits, prospecting, and account growth
- Delivering rationing support (forage analysis, dry matter checks, MUN trends) and implementing diet changes
- Selling the full ruminant feed portfolio, including compounds, blends, minerals, and liquids
- Running farmer meetings, seasonal campaigns, demos, and attending agricultural shows/events
- Maintaining accurate CRM records and forecasts, monitoring sales, margin, and retention KPIs
- Collaborating with technical, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure excellent delivery and support
The Company:
We are representing a long-established, family-owned UK feed manufacturer supplying both ruminant and monogastric sectors nationwide. With multiple mills and a team of in-house nutritionists, the business provides tailored diets, technical expertise, and ongoing farmer support. Their reputation is built on quality, sustainability, and strong customer relationships.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in ruminant field sales, or a strong practical farming background with a desire to transition into sales
- Confident discussing TMR, forage quality, feed conversion, MUN, fertility, and health KPIs
- Competent in using rationing software and presenting data-driven business cases to farmers
- FAR registered (or willing to achieve), with a full UK driving licence
- Highly motivated self-starter, with strong territory planning and closing skills
The Package:
- Competitive base salary plus performance-related bonus/commission
- Company vehicle, laptop, and phone
- Pension scheme and 25+ days holiday
- Ongoing CPD in nutrition and on-farm advisory
