What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to recruit an exceptional Finance Manager to join our close-knit and supportive team at The Joseph Rowntree School. Reporting directly to, and under the guidance of the School Business Manager, you will be responsible for leading all financial elements of the school, co-ordinating the financial aspects of the work of other administrators in the team. Demonstrable financial experience and training is required (see Job Description for further detail).
You must be a team player, be able to build relationships with all staff but also maintain strictest confidence, be dynamic and flexible, and want to seek out better ways of working. The range of activity has huge breadth and school specific requirements may not be familiar to candidates, so you must be willing to learn new skills. You will work closely with subject matter experts but need to be able to thrive in getting on with tasks set independently. Working within statutory guidelines, you will be given the freedom to set up and develop your own systems where appropriate.
You will be highly organised, utterly reliable and able to prioritise conflicting workload. You must possess very good ICT skills, be familiar with databases and different software packages, have an excellent telephone manner and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing.
Most importantly, you must have a positive approach, working in schools is hugely rewarding but can also be challenging, with no two days the same. We look forward to meeting you.
