Caretaker

Job Title: Caretaker

Salary: NJC Scale 3 point 5 £25,583 - £25,989 (actual pro rata £13,828 to £14,048)

Hours: 20 Hours per week, Full year

Working Pattern: 4 hours per day Monday to Friday 2.30pm to 6.30pm

Contract type: Permanent



The Headteacher and Governors of Rose Hill Primary School are looking for a caretaker who is organised, is good at undertaking general repairs and maintenance and can demonstrate initiative.


Duties will include:


  • Acting as a key-holder and being responsible for the security of the building and grounds.
  • Carrying out general maintenance and day to day repairs (requiring DIY skills and a practical aptitude for general building and grounds maintenance)
  • Liaising with contractors for building work and repairs
  • Understanding health and safety regulations
  • Undertaking cleaning duties when necessary and being responsible for developing and maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness around the school
  • Being able to balance cleaning and maintenance with regular scheduled health and safety checks and providing a high standard of record keeping


The job is as demanding as it is varied and involves a lot of practical and physical work.


During school holidays; Annual leave to be arranged with School Business Manager. School holiday hours can be worked flexibly as agreed with the Headteacher/School Business Manager.
