1. Job OverviewWe are looking for an experienced and proactive Engineering Manager to lead Hard FM operations at HMRC's new flagship site at Pilgrim Quarter, Newcastle upon Tyne. This site supports essential government infrastructure and requires a collaborative leader to oversee commissioning, mobilisation, and ongoing maintenance of complex building systems. The role is part of Mitie's Central Government portfolio and reports to the Operations Manager.

The Engineering Manager will lead a team that includes an Engineering Supervisor and eight Shift Engineers working on a 12-hour, 4-on-4-off continental pattern. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape engineering services at one of the largest government hubs in the North East.

2. Main DutiesYou will support and guide the Engineering Supervisor, ensuring effective oversight of the wider engineering team. Key responsibilities include managing commissioning and mobilisation activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and permit systems. You will also lead team development, collaborate with stakeholders, and maintain accurate asset records. Regular updates on progress, risks, and resource needs will be expected.

3. What We're Looking ForWe welcome applications from individuals with strong leadership experience in engineering and facilities management. You should have solid technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, planned and reactive maintenance, and compliance frameworks. Confidence in managing diverse teams, including direct supervision and indirect oversight, is important. Experience with CAFM systems such as Maximo, SSOW frameworks, and PPM delivery is essential.

A full UK driving licence is required, along with eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearance.
