Patient safety and quality of care is the priority. The leads role is to ensure processes and services work to this standard. Oversee and develop clinical governance processes within the practice. Linking up to the senior medical team within CGPN (Medical Director, Chair and fellow leads) supporting clinical governance at service level and feeding into the organisational clinical governance structure. Attending regular (monthly) meetings and report to Clinical Board Working with Practice Manager Supporting practice staff on ad hoc basis with clinical queries/ issues QOF and enhanced service planning/ review and optimising achievement Linking with the Data management team/ workflow team to ensure implementation of systems to optimise quality care within the practice. Day to day Information governance role Personal professional development activities Clinically active To maintain credibility and support to the practice team the clinical lead should undertake patient facing clinical sessions within the service. The session would be expected to come from within the clinical lead session allotment. Undertaking clinical work within the practice provides the opportunity to test and refine processes operationally, fully understand the nature of the work required and lead by example. Professional leadership, development and management Effectively communicating with clinical team and leading regular team meetings In liaison with the Practice Manager, to ensure that the GP clinical rota is covered and to help manage contingency arrangements when needed To be, or work closely with, the CQC Registered Manager, Practice Manager and Governance Team to prepare for CQC inspections and respond to any improvements that may be recommended by CQC Be responsible for ensuring the service provided at the Practice is consistently safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led Induction of new Salaried GPs Networking aspects Represent the practice at a local level with the PCN and other stakeholders. Clinical Governance Responsibilities for this include working with the Practice Team to: Ensure ongoing clinical compliance in line with standards of best practice Development and leading a clinical audit programme in the Practice that reviews clinical practice and outcomes in relation to best practice guidelines and standards Ensure the clinical team are responding to clinical audit feedback and taking full advantage of the learning support offered through this process In partnership with the Practice Manager, participating in the managing of clinical complaints/incidents To be, or support, the Practice Safeguarding Lead for children and vulnerable adults Cultural Aspects Demonstrating and developing the qualities and behaviours that reflect the best of General Practice and the values of CGPN; being patient-focused, creating evidence-based solutions, with a can-do, empowering approach. Developing a practice culture of mutual support, an ambition to provide the best care possible for our patients, and to create the conditions where people working in the practice are able realise their full potential. An overall sense of stewardship and responsibility towards the health and care of our patients. Being a figurehead at practice level. This is a key aspect of the role which brings the team together working to develop the culture and vision referenced above. Being a role model for the team, exemplifying flexibility, commitment, professionalism. Working closely with the practice managers to bring together the skills of both professions for the benefit of the patients, staff and the practice. The practice operates under the General Medical Service (GMS) contract for General Practice. Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required.
