No previous experience in care necessary for this role, just a compassionate willingness to support someones rehabilitation following a stroke.
We are seeking a Personal Assistant to provide support and assistance on a 1:1 basis for a working age woman. Less than a year ago she suffered a stroke and although her recovery has seen remarkable progress she needs some help to return to some of the things that enriched her life as well as some practical support at home.
Friends and family describe her as vibrant, fun loving and caring. Music has always been a big part of her life as well as a quest for knowledge in world affairs; something that the brain injury has not reduced. This makes her an interesting person to engage with.
The hours are 14 per week but can be utilised in a flexible way to suit both employer and PA, terms will be discussed at interview.
This role offers an opportunity to support the recovery and the vital steps to independence for a formerly active woman.
Duties
Support to access leisure activities, such as the gym and swimming.
Support to get to and from appointments.
Support and assistance with light household chores and home management tasks.
Support to access social activities and outings.
Assistance with some meal planning, preparation and cooking alongside.
Driving to appointments or social events as required.
Requirements
Knowledge or awareness of stroke/acquired brain injury an advantage
Good knowledge of local community resources or willingness to research
Certification in first aid is an advantage
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with ease
Valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties
A compassionate approach with a genuine desire to help others
Enhanced DBS will be required
