JGW+ Youth Learning Mentor
ACT, Hadfield Road, Cardiff,
Starting Salary: £24,243

Do you enjoy supporting young people to achieve their goals and build brighter futures? If you’re passionate about making a difference, creating inclusive learning environments, and helping learners overcome barriers, this could be the role for you.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Youth Learning Mentor to join our team. In this role, you will:

Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where learners can thrive.

Support learners to achieve their qualifications and develop essential life skills.

Manage behaviour constructively and positively.

Provide tailored one-to-one and group mentoring to help learners reach their goals.

You may also be required to travel to different centres to support learners.

ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners. While not essential, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

What you’ll be doing

Creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes safety, respect, and active participation.

Reporting safeguarding concerns in line with ACT policy and supporting learner wellbeing.

Managing behaviour positively and using effective strategies to de-escalate situations.

Supervising learners during activities, breaks, and lunch, supporting them to stay on track with their qualifications.

Mentoring learners, setting and reviewing targets, and celebrating progress.

Assisting JGW+ Tutors with curriculum delivery and developing engaging learning resources.

Maintaining accurate records of learner progress, attendance, and performance.

Carrying out administrative tasks to ensure smooth programme delivery.

Promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability in all aspects of your work.
