Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Stafford – September Start – £500–£600 per week

Do you hold a 2:1 or above in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related subject, and have a strong interest in supporting young people with additional needs?

A dynamic and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Stafford is looking to appoint a dedicated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September 2025. This role is ideal for graduates looking to gain practical experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, or therapy-related fields.

About the Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students aged 11–16 with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Working closely with the school’s SEN team and subject teachers, you’ll provide one-to-one and small group support both in and out of the classroom. You’ll play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build self-confidence, and engage positively with school life.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your understanding of inclusive education in a secondary school context, while making a real difference to students’ progress and wellbeing.

Who We’re Looking For
  • A 2:1 degree or higher in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related subject


  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting secondary-aged students


  • A genuine interest in SEN and inclusive education


  • Strong communication and teamwork skills


  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
