Due to business requirements this post is available on a Full Time/Job Share/Flexible Working basis. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office. Applicants can raise any queries to the email address at the bottom of the advert.
We value diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from the widest diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. We particularly encourage applications from women, people with disabilities and LGBT+ as they are currently under-represented in the Home Office at this grade level. Appointments will be made on merit based on fair and open competition.
We’re recruiting Digital, Data and Tech professionals to join the Home Office, working in a wide range of roles. Watch this video to hear from members of the team talking about the projects they work on and their experience of working here.
The Small Boats Operational Command (SBOC) Technology Delivery Centre is a fast-paced, high-impact team delivering technology solutions to support one of the UK’s most prominent operational priorities. Established three years ago, the team plays a vital role in enabling SBOC Operations to respond effectively in a complex and politically sensitive environment.
As a Technology Delivery Manager, you will work within a well-established and experienced multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of a diverse portfolio of products and projects. The work is varied and meaningful, directly supporting operational teams on the front line and helping to improve capability in a space that is frequently in the public eye and subject to ministerial focus.
The team embraces Agile and Scrum methodologies to ensure iterative delivery, adaptability, and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with product owners, delivery leads, and technical specialists to help ensure that solutions are user-centred, robust, and responsive to operational needs.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your delivery expertise in a role that combines technical challenge with public service impact. If you’re motivated by meaningful work and thrive in dynamic environments, we encourage you to apply.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
- Take responsibility for your team’s delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching in using the most appropriate methods to explore needs, solve problems and deliver. Work with the team to continuously monitor and improve processes and performance.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of realistic plans and keep delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints. Remove blockers to the success of your team, involving stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate.
- Develop a motivated, functioning team, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback. Monitor the profile and health of your team, working with them to resolve issues.
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies appropriately.
- Engage with and influence relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to efforts to develop and enhance stakeholder relationships.
- Act as a routine contact point for suppliers involved in delivery. Monitor supplier performance and help to resolve problems with suppliers.
