The Practitioner Role
• To assist the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager to help ensure that all children receive the highest standards of care and education.
• To ensure the smooth running of the nursery room and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• To hold a relevant Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years.
• Have experience of working in a busy nursery.
• To be part of and adhering to policies and procedures and relevant legislation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Leading by example and acting as a role model to children.
• Work as part of a team ensuring high standards of care and education.
• Being aware of staffing and ratios of children.
• Understand and ensure the requirements of the EYFS and OFSTED and other regulatory bodies are met.
• Providing support and guidance to volunteers, new staff, students and apprentices.
Childcare and Education
• Providing opportunities for all children to learn, develop and make progress ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all children.
• To be confident in being able to implement and monitor planning and assessment of all children.
• To work directly with the children and to provide a stimulating and inclusive environment for all.
• Ensure that all children receive the necessary support and care, including children with additional needs / SEND.
• Promote and facilitate partnership working with parents/carers and other family members.
• Establish, develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority, regulatory bodies and other agencies.
• Create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery.
• To respect and understand the importance of confidentiality in the Nursery.
• To be confident in identifying and addressing your own training needs.
• Contribute to staff meetings.
• Ensure the safety of all children within the Nursery and follow Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.
• Contribute to record keeping and ensuring fees from parents are paid on time.
• Maintaining good communication with all members of the company, parents and Ofsted
• Meet with Manager/Deputy each term to carry out your ‘supervision’.
• Contributing to the Nursery Development Plan.
• Support Manager/staff in role of SENCO and sharing relevant information with regards to your key children or other children within the nursery.
• Liaising with relevant agencies on the delivery of provision and the individual needs of children with SEND.
• Offer confidential support and advice to parents. This will include daily informal contact and regular reviews of their child’s progress
