The Role
Are you an experienced administrator looking for a new challenge? Are you starting your career with a particular interest in planning and environmental issues?
We are looking for a Planning Support Officer who can assist across the Council’s planning services. This is a new role that will provide efficient, professional and high-quality administrative support to managers and team leaders across a wide range of projects and duties.
This will include diary management and meeting organisation, taking accurate notes of meetings, helping with the organisation of planning appeals or workshops, preparing materials, updating web pages and supporting with financial and other administration.
The Experience you will bring
You may already have previous experience of assistant or administration roles. However, this position could also suit candidates who have recently left education with a particular interest in sustainable development, planning or the environment and who wish to gain experience in this sector.
Whatever your background, you will be a good organiser with the ability to work to deadlines, prioritise tasks and use your own initiative and research to identify solutions. You will be confident working with other people and using common IT applications such as Microsoft Office. You will pay attention to detail to take notes and keep accurate records. You enjoy working within teams and frequently helping different groups of people on a variety of tasks.
You will be flexible and willing to occasionally attend meetings and workshops outside of normal office hours to help ensure they run smoothly.
