About the Role
We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Senior Revenues Leader to manage our high performing Business Rates Team within Exchequer Services. You will be responsible for the operational management of a fast-paced Business Rates team, delivering a first-class, professional service and a high-quality front-line service to the Council and its partners. As a career-graded, succession planning role, you will support the Revenues Manager with government returns, collection forecasting, and the delivery of wider objectives including digital automation and corporate priorities. You will also represent Trafford at Greater Manchester benchmarking groups and act as Deputy Revenues Manager in their absence, contributing to the continuous improvement and resilience of the service.
About you
You will have at least 3 years’ experience working in a local authority Revenues environment, with a strong understanding of Business Rates legislation, procedures, and systems. You will demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, manage performance effectively, and deliver high-quality, customer-focused services in a fast-paced setting. You will be confident in handling complex cases, making discretionary decisions, and representing the Council in formal proceedings at the Magistrates Court.
You will hold an IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation) qualification (Full/Tech/Apprenticeship), or be willing to attain this qualification, commencing within 12 months of appointment. You will also be committed to continuous improvement, digital innovation, and collaborative working, reflecting Trafford’s EPIC values in everything you do.

As a hybrid worker you will have the flexibility to work from home as well as the office. You will be required to attend the office for training, meetings and as required by the service needs or your line manager.
