Children's Home Support Worker

Cranfield, Central Bedfordshire - MK43

£27,000 per hour

As a Children's Home Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and young people within our client's residential setting. The responsibilities are both practical and emotionally attuned, often shaped by trauma-informed practice and safeguarding principles.

Please note - We are not recruiting Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to work in the UK. You must already have the right to work in the UK.

Core Responsibilities

- Safeguarding & Welfare

- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times

- Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance

- Maintain clear boundaries and routines to promote emotional security

- Supporting young people with DOL's

Daily Care & Routines

- Support with personal hygiene, dressing, and mealtimes

- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor health indicators

- Encourage participation in household tasks to build independence

Emotional & Behavioural Support

- Build trusting relationships through empathy and consistency

- Use de-escalation techniques and, where necessary, safe physical intervention

- Promote resilience and positive coping strategies

Education & Development

- Support engagement with education, including liaising with schools

- Encourage participation in recreational and therapeutic activities

- Contribute to care planning and progress tracking using EHCPs and the young person's personalised Care Plans

Documentation & Communication

- Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress, and daily logs

- Attend reviews and contribute to multi-agency meetings

- Advocate for the child's rights and voice in all aspects of care

Teamwork & Professionalism

- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals

- Uphold the values of the home, including trauma-informed and inclusive practice

- Engage in reflective supervision and ongoing training
