This is a vacancy at outstanding special needs school in Oldham that are keen to hire a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to support their pupils with social & emotional needs, including those with Autism.
The basics:
- Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant at special needs high school in Oldham for children with SEN, including Autism, Social & Emotional needs and Learning Needs.
- Starting ASAP September 2025.
- Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.
- Could go permanent eventually for the right person.
- £95/day - Paid PAYE, we don't use umbrella companies!
- Equal pay to perm staff in same role from 13th week onwards.
- New DBS refund - after 20 days of work!

Your new role & work environment:
- Provide 1:1 & group support to secondary students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) as well as pupils with Autism & Learning Needs.
- You will need to adapt your approach to each individual need, levels and interests.
- Focus on pupil progress in social, emotional & behavioural areas while also supporting with academic improvement.
- Use positive reinforcement, preventative strategies, de-escalation measures & behaviour management techniques.
- Contribute to a safe, fun & inclusive classroom environment.
- Work with the class teacher, SENCO, SLT, parents and outside professionals such as social workers & educational psychologists.
- Report on behaviours, incidents and disclosures to the DSL.
- A supportive, inclusive & well run secondary special needs school.
- Small classrooms of no more than 10 students with staff team of 4 in each.
- Focuses on empathy and respect across their diverse range of pupils.
- Ongoing CPD for long term supply staff.
- Close to several bus routes.
- Free on-site parking.
What We Need from You:
- Up to date CV with 10-year work history.
- Right to Work & Proof of Address in the UK.
- DBS certificate on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for one).
- At least 2 professional references covering last 2 years.
- References MUST evidence at least 3 months experience with children.
- Overseas Police Check if applicable.
- A proactive, empathetic, reliable and hard-working approach is a must!
