Job Title: Behavioural Support Mentor
Location: Wirral
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only Monday to Friday- 8:30am-4:30pm
The Role
Chalk Education are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioural Support Mentor to join a school in Bidston. This role is central to helping pupils manage their behaviour, engage positively in learning, and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to ensure each child receives the support they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support pupils in managing their behaviour, regulating emotions, and developing coping strategies.
- Encourage positive engagement in learning and social activities.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to deliver individualised behaviour plans.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews.
Person Specification:
- Experience of working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or SEND setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications ( Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.

o References confirming suitability for role
o Commitment to Safeguarding
o Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
o Eligibility to work in the UK
