Summary
Job Title: Experienced Skip Driver (HGV Class 2)
Location: Halesowen
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Skip Driver to join our fast-paced team, operating from our depot in Halesowen. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, collection, and transportation of skips to various customer sites across the region while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate and drive skip lorries (HGV Class 2 or above) in compliance with company policies and road traffic laws.
Deliver and collect skips from residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
Ensure correct placement of skips to avoid hazards (e.g., obstructions, overhead cables).
Conduct daily vehicle checks (pre- and post-trip inspections) and report any defects promptly.
Secure loads properly and ensure the safe transportation of waste materials.
Provide excellent customer service, assisting with skip positioning and answering queries.
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, including delivery notes, waste transfer notes, and digital records.
Adhere to tipping site rules and follow all environmental and waste disposal regulations.
Work efficiently in a busy environment, managing multiple deliveries per day.
Essential Requirements:
Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence (Class 1/C+E is a bonus).
CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) for professional drivers.
Valid Digital Tachograph Card and up-to-date Driver CPC training.
Previous experience as a Skip Driver or in a similar HGV driving role.
Knowledge of manual handling and load securing best practices.
Good geographical knowledge of Halesowen and the surrounding areas for efficient route planning.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle the role's physical demands (e.g., lifting, climbing).
Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with construction and waste industry regulations.
Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle checks and troubleshooting.
Working Hours & Benefits:
Full-time, Monday to Friday (occasional weekends may be required).
