We are recruiting for a leading Cash and Carry wholesaler, supplying a vast range of goods to businesses across the region. Our reputation is built on reliability, excellent service, and ensuring our customers get what they need, when they need it. Our drivers are the face of our company, and we’re looking for a skilled, physically fit, and customer-focused Lorry Driver to join our team.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious HGV Driver for our multi-drop delivery service. This is a highly physical role that involves a significant amount of manual handling, including handballing goods directly to our business customers at their premises. The ideal candidate will be a professional driver who is just as comfortable interacting with customers and manually handling stock as they are behind the wheel.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate and manoeuvre a Category C (Class 2) rigid lorry on multi-drop delivery routes.
Manually handball (lift, carry, and move) a high volume of mixed goods, including drinks, produce, and frozen goods, directly from the vehicle to the customer's storage area. This is a core and frequent duty.
Plan efficient multi-drop routes to meet strict delivery windows and provide exceptional customer service.
Conduct daily vehicle checks (walk-around checks) and report any defects promptly.
Secure all loads properly to prevent damage during transit.
Fully comply with UK driving laws, including Drivers' Hours and tachograph regulations.
Accurately complete all delivery and collection paperwork, obtaining signatures and managing returns.
Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to our customers at each drop.
Assist with loading and unloading at the depot as required.
Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
Requirements & Qualifications
Valid Category C (Class 2) HGV Licence – Essential.
Valid Driver CPC Card – Essential.
Proven experience in a multi-drop driving role that involved manual handling and handballing.
Exceptional physical fitness and strength is essential for the manual handling demands of this role.
A clean driving licence (no serious endorsements).
Strong knowledge of UK road transport laws and Drivers' Hours rules.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently.
(If applicable) A valid forklift licence is desirable.
