About the Role
We’re looking for a Children’s Residential Business Support Officer to join our Children’s Support Services within the Children and Families Department. This role provides comprehensive and flexible support to Managers, Assistant Managers, and Children’s Residential Social Care Workers (CRSCWs) across one or more residential homes.
You’ll contribute to consistent service delivery and improved outcomes for young people, supporting their physical, emotional, cultural, religious, educational, and psychological needs. You’ll also manage financial systems, organise meetings, maintain records, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
Essential Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Or relevant experience demonstrating equivalent skills
Essential Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience working in a pressured, confidential environment
- Familiarity with financial systems and case management tools
Essential Knowledge:
- Understanding of business support processes within a local authority setting
- Awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality in children’s services
- Knowledge of UK data protection legislation, including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills across various formats (face-to-face, phone, email)
- Excellent minute-taking and note-recording skills
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a customer-focused approach
- Ability to work with discretion in a sensitive environment
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage varied workloads
