Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Lorry Driver (HGV Driver) to join our fleet. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe, on-time delivery of goods to our customers nationwide. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating HGVs in compliance with UK transport laws, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate and manoeuvre HGVs (Category C or C+E) for regional or long-distance deliveries.

Plan efficient routes using sat-nav and transport management systems to meet delivery schedules.

Conduct daily walk-around checks and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.

Secure loads properly, ensuring weight distribution and load stability for safe transit.
Comply fully with UK driving regulations, including tachograph rules and Working Time Directive (WTD) requirements.

Maintain accurate digital and paper records of hours, mileage, fuel use, and delivery documentation.

Communicate professionally with transport office staff, warehouse teams, and customers.

Assist with loading/unloading when required, using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, forklifts).

Perform basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., oil, tyre pressure, brake checks) to ensure roadworthiness.
Requirements & Qualifications

Valid Category C (Class 2) or C+E (Class 1) HGV Licence – Essential.
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – Essential.
Minimum 1 year’ professional HGV driving experience (experience with curtain-sided, flatbed, or refrigerated trailers preferred).
Clean driving licence (no serious endorsements within the last 5 years).
Strong knowledge of UK road transport laws, WTD, and Drivers’ Hours rules.
Comfortable using both manual paperwork and digital fleet systems.
Physically fit (able to handle manual handling when required).
Punctual and reliable – must meet strict delivery deadlines.
