School Caretaker | Brighton | £13.68 - £15.00 per hour | Temporary | Full-TimeAbout the roleThis school is seeking a dependable and proactive School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. This is a hands-on role that plays a vital part in the day-to-day running of the school site.Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school premises.
- Ensure the site is secure, including opening and locking up the building.
- Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
- Support contractors and deliveries on site.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas, including snow/ice clearance.
- Set up rooms for school events and activities.
- Respond to emergency callouts and health and safety issues.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks and supplies.
Person Specification
- Previous experience in care-taking, facilities, or maintenance role (school experience desirable).
- Practical DIY skills and familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
- Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to high standards.
- A full UK driving licence may be required depending on site needs.
