Come Join Me! – Support Worker Needed in Horsford (Moving to Great Melton soon), Norfolk
Part-Time (3pm - 8pm Monday to Friday) or Bank Shifts Available
Hi, I’m Thomas!
I’m a kind young man (born in 2009) with a great sense of humour and a big love for swimming, music, dancing, and McDonald's! I live at home with my family and go to a place I call “the gym” – it helps me with my physiotherapy and keeps me moving. I like to go shopping and try out various takeaways!
I have cerebral palsy and a brain injury from birth, which means I use an electric wheelchair and need help with some things like hoisting, manual handling, and physiotherapy. I also have scoliosis, which causes me pain sometimes, but I’m getting treatment soon. I find it hard to process information sometimes, so I really appreciate people who take their time with me and help me feel comfortable. Being an advocate for me is extremely important, as well as ensuring I am safe.
About the Role
I’m looking for a patient, caring, and fun Support Worker to help me explore new places, enjoy activities, and support me at home. You’ll be helping me with:
After-school support (3pm–8pm, Monday to Friday)
Extra hours on weekends and school holidays
Driving me in my Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
Assisting with my physiotherapy and personal care
Helping me make choices and be involved in decisions
Job Details
Location: Horsford, NR10 (moving to Great Melton soon, NR9)
Hours: Permanent Part Time or Bank hours – mostly after school, with more hours on weekends and holidays
Pay:
Weekdays: £15.00 per hour
Weekend days, weekday waking nights & bank holidays: £16.00 per hour
Weekend waking nights & bank holidays: £17.00 per hour
Start Date: ASAP (after checks)
Interviews: On a rolling basis – apply early!
What I’m Looking For
Essential:
Experience supporting young adults with complex medical needs
A driver, to be able to drive my automatic wheelchair adapted vehicle
Desirable:
Experience working with young adults with trauma
An interest in therapy
Our Values
I’m supported by people that really care, and we live by these values:
We are Supportive – It matters to us that our clients and staff know that we care. You’ll be part of a team that supports me and each other.
We have Integrity – We work professionally, honestly, and transparently. I need someone I can trust.
We are Client Centred – My needs and goals come first. You’ll help me do the things I love and be part of my decisions.
We are Quality Focussed – We aim high and always do our best. You’ll help me live life to the fullest.
We are Positive – We find solutions and empower others. You’ll bring energy and encouragement to every day.
What You’ll Get
Ongoing training and support (including The Care Certificate)
Free DBS check
Regular supervision and support from my Case Manager and HR team
Safeguarding
We’re committed to keeping everyone safe. You’ll need:
Proof of your right to work in the UK
Satisfactory references (including your last employer)
An enhanced DBS check (a conviction won’t necessarily stop you from working with me)
If you’re calm, proactive, and enthusiastic – and you’d enjoy helping me live my best life – I’d welcome your application.
