Summary
Are you someone who believes in the power of dignity, choice and independence? Do you have a heart for helping others live life to the fullest? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our team as a Support Worker.
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in providing support and longer-term care for individuals with Learning Disabilities. Your mission? To help people regain or maintain their independence by promoting daily living skills and offering compassionate, person-centred care.
You’ll be supporting individuals in line with their personal support and goal plans—offering not just practical help, but emotional encouragement and genuine connection.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working with people, not for them—empowering individuals to do as much as they can for themselves
Delivering personal care with dignity and respect, including washing, dressing, toileting, and mealtime support
Following individual support plans and updating senior staff to ensure care remains relevant and responsive
Supporting safe mobility
Keeping accurate, detailed records to ensure continuity and quality of care
Being a trusted presence—someone who listens, encourages, and uplifts
What We’re Looking For
A compassionate, respectful approach to care
A commitment to promoting independence and wellbeing
Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
A team player who’s also confident working independently
Experience in care is welcome, but not essential—we provide full training
What You’ll Get in Return
A supportive, inclusive working environment
You will be well supported and receive regular structured supervision
Ongoing training and development opportunities
The chance to make a real difference in people’s lives, every single day
As part of our team, you will enable and support with all kinds of activities encouraging our residents to enjoy Island life, from walks along the coast from Shanklin to Sandown, trips to feed the ducks, bus trips around the Isle of Wight and visits to local garden centres, you’ll even join our residents on day trips and excursions to a range of Island attractions such as Tapnell Farm, Robin Hill and Rylstone Gardens.
Our residents have a wide range of care needs and diverse interests so you will need to tailor your work to suit everyone, ensuring everyone is happy and engaged in the activities and experiences that suit them best.
You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service, which has a person-centred approach and actively supports and maximises residents' independence and life experience. Our team needs to be a special mix of energy and enthusiasm with the ability to also be gentle and calm, to adapt to the needs of all our residents, some of whom will communicate non-verbally which will require time and patience to master.
