A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.


The Clinical Procurement Specialist will directly report into the Senior Nurse Advisor and will provide advice, assistance and support on all clinically related matters to all levels of staff within the ICS as part of the procurement agenda.

The role requires a professional with extensive clinical knowledge and expertise who will set an example to teams in achieving the future vision of the new function through promotion and support of a standardised approach to the selection of sustainable clinically related products, across the ICS.

The post holder should have knowledge of Public Sector Procurement legislation and will be able to support the application of an effective procurement process to ensure products selected are of the correct quality, offer value for money and are compliant with National guidelines/legislation and in line with the sustainable procurement, net zero and social value agenda.

The post holder will use extensive clinical knowledge and expertise to support the ICS Team, realise annual cash releasing savings by using a standardised approach to product selection whilst ensuring products selected are of the right quality, compliant with national guidelines / legislation and offer value for money.

The role will also support Trusts within the ICS to manage clinical risk by supporting projects relating to patient safety / legislation changes / Medical Device Alerts.

The role will be required to support the Senior Nurse Advisor in establishing the ICS as a centre of excellence, ensuring that the service is efficient, cost effective and responsive to the changing needs of the local health community and wider NHS.

Use clinical expertise to provide clinical advice to Hertfordshire and West Essex IC NHS Procurement staff, Trust staff including nurses, medical staff, Allied Health Professionals and other stakeholders.

Use a systematic approach to identify clinical product rationalisation / standardisation across a wide range of clinical products.

Engage proactively with clinical / non-clinical networks to influence procurement of goods and services considering Quality, Legislation, Health & Safety and cost.

Support Trust in the identification of / replacement of product issues in relation to Medical Device Alerts issued by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency.

Provide clinical expertise during tender processes / act as project member.
