Job Title: – Class 1 Driver - Richard Tovey Transport Services Ltd
Job Purpose:
To use a Class 1 vehicle to deliver freight & heavy loads safely and efficiently throughout the UK. The shifts start between 5.30am and 8am until delivery finish. Working days are Monday till Friday inclusive. Weekend and overnight work is arranged by mutual agreement. Working for a small company, flexibility with some days driving smaller vehicles when required is essential.
Good communication skills, good organisation and a positive outlook are necessary for this role, with a calm and professional manner under pressure. Patience is also sometimes necessary when waiting in between lifts.
The main duties are listed below:
Job Duties:
• Comply with the Highway Code
• Multi drop deliveries and collections.
• Keeps and submits accurate records of deliveries and customer authorisation, including signing off jobs electronically.
• Drives safely and follows all laws and rules of driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Communicates with office to update any issues.
• Able to plan and follow a safe and efficient route.
• Maintain vehicle in a clean, safe and road worthy condition by completing and recording daily walk round checks and informing any defects to management.
• Safely load and unload the vehicle.
• Check freight/load before departure and comply with Civil Aviation rules and regulations.
• Download tacho on a weekly basis.
• Wear correct PPE during duty.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in training.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Clean UK Driving Licence with no disqualifications within the last 3 years
• Driver Qualification Card – CPC Periodic Training
• Driver Digital Tachograph Card
• Current ALLMI lifting qualifications or equivalent desirable but not essential
• Able to provide a full 5 year history for security clearance
• Ability to communicate in both spoken and written English
• Ability to communicate in a calm and professional manner to clients and colleagues
