What skills and experience we're looking for
• We're looking for a Science Technician to join our team at Wimbledon College.We seek someone with a strong technical aptitude and a commitment to the well-being and progress of everyone at the school.
• Experience or qualifications in a science-based environment (e.g., GCSE, A-level, or a degree) would be an advantage but are not essential.
• Experience in an educational setting is also a benefit, but not a requirement.

Further details about the role
You'll be a key part of our well-resourced Science Department, working with two other technicians to support 14 teachers across 10 labs. Your primary goal will be to ensure that teachers and students have all the equipment, materials, and resources they need to create engaging and high-quality learning experiences. We're looking for someone who's not only well-motivated but also brings fresh ideas and a commitment to academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation & Support: Work with lesson plans and teachers to prepare and set up exciting and stimulating practical sessions for chemistry, physics, and biology. Provide technical assistance to teachers and students during lessons as needed.
• Resource Management: Manage and maintain stock levels and work closely with the Head of Science to ensure our resources are always well-supplied.
• Health & Safety: Champion health and safety in all lab activities, ensuring a safe learning environment for everyone.
• Laboratory Maintenance: Handle general lab housekeeping, including cleaning glassware, restocking cupboards, and managing waste disposal.
