What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an outstanding and inspirational practitioner to lead our Drama Department. The successful candidate will lead the development of a creative and innovative curriculum across KS3 and KS4 and will direct our extensive extra-curricular programme, ensuring that high quality teaching and learning meets the needs of individual students and gives all students the opportunity to achieve their potential.
The Head of Department has responsibility for leading their Department, in fostering a love of the subject at every level and promoting it within the school. The successful candidate will ensure high standards of teaching, learning and achievement. They will employ efficient use of resources to meet the needs of individual students and provide students with purpose and enjoyment through ongoing development of the Drama curriculum.
What the school offers its staff
Our school is ‘Good’ (Ofsted 2023), being one of the most popular and successful 11-16 mixed comprehensive schools in the Preston Park area of Brighton, consistently over-subscribed.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced and offers many exciting opportunities for all students, both in school and out. There are tremendous extra-curricular opportunities at Dorothy Stringer through sport, performing arts, the Junior Leadership Team, Art, the Duke of Edinburgh award, as well as a number of other trips. In short, we believe there is something for everyone at the school.
Commitment to safeguarding
Dorothy Stringer is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and comply with the Department of Education Statutory Guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’.
