Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist (Cornea) at Addenbrookes Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
This post is available as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.
The successful applicant will join a team of 20 Ophthalmology Consultants with dedicated subspecialty interests and our two corneal specialists
There is currently no on call commitment for the fixed term position.
The post holder will support the acute eye services with one primary care corneal clinic and will backfill surgery lists, all based at CUH.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients attending cornea, cataract, ocular surface disease clinics and the acute eye service with primarily corneal problems.
The subspecialty is supported by Specialist nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, HCAs, technicians and a dedicated administrative team.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Ophthalmology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

The job planning will involve 8 direct patient facing sessions in the week that would include surgery with 2 half day sessions allocated for supporting professional development.
