Job Description: We are currently seeking additional Transport Planners at our Bristol depot. This position will be working within the central transport team and will involve all aspects of the planning of contractual inbound customer volumes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and organising national transport operations, including deliveries and collections, to ensure efficient and timely execution across multiple depot locations.
- Managing inbound load schedules using a fleet of articulated vehicles, ensuring optimal routing and resource allocation.
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation, and implementing corrective actions where necessary to maintain high standards.
- Collaborating with the central customer service team to coordinate loading schedules and delivery appointments in line with customer expectations.
- Communicating collection and delivery times with internal departments and external customers to ensure transparency and service reliability.
- Holding regular meetings with Line Managers to review operational performance, address challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Identifying and developing opportunities to enhance service offerings and add value to the transport operation through innovative solutions and process improvements.
- Ensuring all contracted transport activities are accurately booked through internal systems and delivered in accordance with customer agreements.
- Achieving daily and weekly vehicle revenue targets and providing detailed performance reports to senior management on a weekly basis.
- Maintaining and updating all relevant data within the Transport Management System (TMS) to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of contracted deliveries.
- Ensuring full compliance with company policies and procedures within the transport business area, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements:
- Experience of planning in the logistics industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of legal compliance including driver's hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
