About the Role

Using our amazing collections and professional expertise, Creative Learning Services delivers engaging learning opportunities to support the curriculum, inspire pupils and equip staff in schools with knowledge and skills.

You will be delivering booktalking, poetry, spoken word, creative writing workshops and reading cafes to primary pupils, secondary students and parents in schools throughout Leicestershire and Leicester. You will be required to transport the session resources to schools and other venues yourself.
We’d like you to contribute to developing the CLS library management system and to provide professional advice and CPD to librarians, teaching and other staff in school to support the development of good school libraries and learning opportunities.

You will be responsible for managing the paid-for subscriptions of a case load of schools to ensure good customer relationships.

With your professional knowledge of children’s fiction and non-fiction you’ll enthuse teachers and pupils about children’s literature to raise attainment and wellbeing and develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and current children’s literature through your own reading and contributing to the CLS library book selection.
You will contribute towards working with local library and educational partners to share expertise in facilitating book awards, online author talks and CPD.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement.
