Bawso is the lead organisation in Wales providing practical and emotional support to black minority ethnic (BME) and migrant victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, human trafficking, Female Genital Mutilation and forced marriage.

We are seeking to appoint for the following position:

Children and Young People Support Worker

Location: Swansea
Hours: 18.5 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Starting Salary: £ 26,300 per annum pro rata

​Fixed term contract up 31st March 2026 subject to funding


Role:
To ensure that BAWSO provides a happy, safe and enjoyable experience for developing children and young people, ensuring a high quality of childcare at all times to meet the educational, social and cultural needs of individual children.

The post holder will support children who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse and plan and provide stimulating, safe, and appropriate play opportunities.


This role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1)


Qualifications and knowledge:

NVQ 3 Certificate in Child care is essential.
Support work experience is desirable for this role

Pre-Employment Checks:
Due to the urgency to fill this post, shortlisted candidates must provide evidence of the required qualification (or equivalent) prior to interview. As part of our pre-employment process, we will carry out reference checks. All applicants must also hold an Enhanced child and Adult DBS and be registered with the DBS Update Service; evidence of this will be required before interview.
