Summary
HGV Technician
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
Salary: Up to £50,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Shifts: Alternating Early (6am–2pm) and Late (2pm–10pm)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Duties and Responsibilities of HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter:
Service, maintain and repair a wide range of HGVs and trailers to DVSA standards
Diagnose faults using advanced diagnostic equipment — both mechanical and electrical
Prepare vehicles for MOT, carry out inspections and safety checks
Complete accurate job cards and keep service records up to date
Work closely with parts to ensure speedy repairs and minimise downtime
Keep the workshop safe, clean and efficient
Experience and Skills for HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter:
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience as a HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter
Proven experience as an HGV Technician, Mechanic or Fitter
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Strong diagnostics and fault-finding skills — you’re the go-to for tricky repairs
Confident working independently and as part of a tight-knit team
Bonus points if you have:
HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
ADR qualifications or experience
