The Deputy Head of Nursing will deputise for the Head of Nursing on an as required basis The Deputy Head of Nursing will support the delivery of safe, clinically and cost effective and compassionate nursing care within the Division and provides assurance evidence to the Head of Nursing regarding compliance against all appropriate professional, organisational and national compliance standards. The Deputy Head of Nursing will support decision making where practice or service delivery issues cross Matron specialty or when cross specialty leadership is required. The Deputy Head of Nursing will establish and foster an effective working relationship with the Division Triumvirate to lead improvements in nursing care, service delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities within the Division. The Deputy Head of Nursing role will support the Head of nursing to lead the development of nursing policy and processes to maximise opportunities through co-design, introduction of new care models and the empowerment of service users and carers. Act as Trust-wide representative for nursing and as an ambassador of UHN as appropriate. Utilise all forms of communication including verbal, written, electronic, e-mail, formal and informal meetings and ensure effective communication of local Trust and National information or guidance to all nurses interpreting new information in ways that can be implemented into clinical practice. Communicate highly complex information to Executives and the Board. Present all types of information, including highly complex service information, to large groups which will involve high degrees of tact and diplomacy and where barriers to understanding occur. Maintain and handle highly confidential patient and staff information, record keeping, creating and maintaining effective storage system of staff records For further information on the role it can be found on the attached JD/PS and candidate pack for the role.
