We’re looking for a skilled CDM Surveyor to join us on an 18-month fixed term contract. You’ll use your surveying expertise to inspect, diagnose and resolve complex property defects, with a focus on damp, condensation and disrepair cases.
In this role, you’ll:
- Carry out inspections and recommend effective solutions.
- Provide specialist repair and maintenance advice.
- Ensure compliance with landlord obligations and act as an expert witness when needed.
- Help defend against disrepair claims while minimising risk and cost.
- Specify works, manage contractors, and deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget.
This is a varied role combining technical surveying, case management and customer engagement – all while ensuring safe, high-quality homes.
Join Bromford, part of Bromford Flagship, and become part of a leading housing provider delivering community-focused services across the Midlands and South West — all backed by the scale and ambition of the Bromford Flagship group.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone with strong building pathology expertise and a track record in repairs and maintenance service delivery. You should be confident working independently, making professional judgements, and representing the organisation in legal and technical matters.
Key skills and experience include:
- Knowledge and understanding of housing disrepair legislation, including The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and HHSRS.
- Professional qualifications: Chartered membership (RICS, CIOB or equivalent) and a relevant construction qualification (HNC, degree or equivalent).
- Experience in diagnosing property defects and specifying appropriate remedial works.
- Strong understanding of landlord and tenant legislation and leaseholder consultation.
- Experience managing contractors, preparing schedules of work, and delivering projects within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers, colleagues, and legal representatives.
Additional requirements
- Flexibility: Able to travel across Gloucestershire and Bristol with a company car or cash allowance alternative provided.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to complete an enhanced DBS check.
Benefits Package:
- Salary: £42,000 - £49,000 per year, with an annual salary review
- Performance Bonus: Based on individual and company-wide targets
- Flexible Working: We’re happy to explore options if this is important to you
- Personal benefits fund: £500 annual allowance for benefits such as private medical insurance, dental treatment, critical illness cover, or gym membership
- Annual leave: 27 days per year, plus bank holidays, with an option to buy or sell up to 5 days
- Pension options: Choose from two pension schemes, with employer contributions of up to 10%
- Life Assurance
- Wellbeing Support – not just for you, but also for your partner, children, parents, and siblings. Plus, access to a free app with virtual GP services and mental health resources.
- Retail discounts: Save money on groceries, clothing, electronics, and more
- Drinks card providing up to £30 per month for hot or cold drinks while working (pro rata for part-time colleagues)
- Family Leave – supporting colleagues with parental and dependant responsibilities, including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental, dependent care, and carers’ leave.
