This is an exciting time to join Falkirk’s Social Work Service having recently moved Justice and Children’s Social Work Services into the Health and Social Care Partnership. Falkirk Council Justice Services are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and organised Social Worker to be based in the Social Work Unit at HMP & YOI Polmont. The post holder will work as a prison-based Social Worker, undertaking statutory social work tasks within a custodial setting to deliver services to people in custody as per the vision, values, applicable legislation, policies and procedures for Justice Services. The post holder will report to the Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager in the Social Work Unit at HMP & YOI Polmont and the team is small, friendly and experienced.
A Social Work Diploma and/or a Social Work degree is essential.
Experience of statutory social work in either the community or a secondary setting is desirable. Please refer to the job profile for further details. The post is offered on a permanent full time (37 hours). You will be required to undertake work out with normal office hours but within contracted weekly hours. If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership and be required to successfully complete Personal Protection Training with our Scottish Prison Service partners.

Candidates will have a social work qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council, and be registered, or eligible to register, with the SSSC.
The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
