Summary
Are you an experienced maintenance person looking for a flexible opportunity to work with elderly people and a diverse team? If you are looking for a part-time role, or planning to retire seeking flexible work or freelance worker, it may suit you.
We are a small nursing home and looking for a person who can complete day-to-day basic property maintenance to ensure the Home operates safely. You will work in liaison with Home Manager to understand priorities to give the Home a positive outlook. The role is a part time position up to 20- 24 hours per week over 3-4 days per week.
You will be qualified to maintain the environment, for example, be competent in carrying out general repairs, some basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry work, painting, decorating and equipment, so forth.
Main responsibilities include:
• Carrying out general repairs
• Painting and decorating both internal and external building as directed;
• Basic plumbing and electrical work
• Carrying out regular checks on equipment including: wheelchairs, electric beds, window restrictors as required;
• Cleaning appliances and light fittings as required
• Completing environmental audits, carrying out fire door checks;
• Organise and maintain storage facilities in an orderly fashion;
• Maintain and keep the grounds tidy and accessible for residents, maintain all equipment and schedule service arrangements as necessary;
• Be able to carry out any other necessary duties as agreed with management team.
The individual should demonstrate,
• Empathy whilst working with elderly people and/or with disabilities.
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and general building repairs.
• Ability to organise and prioritise own workload effectively.
• Ability to use own initiative, work unsupervised and accept responsibility for own work.
• A commitment to working to high standards and providing a quality service.
• Enthusiastic and positive outlook.
